POWER FORWARD Event rescheduled: GrassROOTS supports the NY Liberty
IMPORTANT UPDATE: GRASSROOTS POWER FORWARD EVENT POSTPONED. PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEW YORK LIBERTY AND THE GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION WILL CONTINUE TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT HEALTH OF WOMEN AND GIRLS
Fellow Madison Square Garden sports team, The New York Rangers scored an incredible win and are now moving forward in the playoffs. Because of this amazing victory, the “Power Forward” charity concert will take place in Newark, New Jersey – temporary home of the New York Liberty and location of the GrassROOTS H.E.A.L. program.
Developed during the 40th anniversary of Title IX, “Power Forward” specifically addresses the importance of using women’s sports and women athletes to increase physical activity and reducing obesity among impoverished women and girls.

You can continue to show your support of this partnership by purchasing Power Forward tickets which includes season tickets for NY Liberty basketball games and free access to all Power Forward events. forty-percent of proceeds from the Power Forward tickets will support the H.E.A.L program.
All basketball tickets can be donated back to GrassROOTS on behalf of the HEAL families.

GrassROOTS Foundation is a collaborative effort of Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, co-founder and lead MC of the Grammy Award Winning group, the Roots, and sociologist, Dr. Janice Johnson Dias.
GrassROOTS Community Foundation (GCF) is a health advocacy organization that supports, develops, and scales community-driven solutions to the health challenges facing impoverished women and girls.
We provide funding and technical support to community based health programs. We develop models that are high-impact, evidence driven and context specific. We work with girls, their families and community members.
In Philadelphia, GCF funds and supports the C.H.I.C.K.S program. C.H.I.C.K.S: Creating Healthy Informed Confident Knowledgeable Selves is an afterschool health program at Harding Middle School in the Frankford area of Philadelphia.
Operated by Carson Valley Children’s Aid (CVCA), the C.H.I.C.K.S program offers the girls the tools needed to enhance, develop, and make positive changes in their lives. C.H.I.C.K.S is designed to teach the girls that SISTERHOOD is SUPPORTIVE, LOVING and CARING. (http://grass-rootsfoundation.org/chicks/CHICKS.html). The program focuses on health literacy, wellness, physical activity and professional skill development.
